《“スザニ” について》
代々受け継がれるスザニ刺繍の伝統。
「スザニ」「スザニ刺繍」とは
スザニは１７世紀ごろから中央アジアあたりの遊牧民の女性たちが手刺繍で代々受け継いできた伝統のひとつだと言われています。

昔は、母親や親戚が縫いながら娘に縫い方を教え、残りを娘が刺繍しました。
小さい物でも何ヶ月、大きい物だと数年かけて1枚を作り上げるそうです。

使用方法は自由で、スザニを壁にかけたり、カーペット、布団カバー、テーブルクロスなどの装飾として使われます。
今回のスザニは、タジク人が作ったヴィンテージスザニです。

観光地で売ってるスザニは機械刺繍が多く、デザイン性だけを見ると完成度は高いです。
しかし、スザニの魅力は美しさだけではなく、伝統文化や歴史、手作りの歪さこそ温かみがり、
それが本来のハンドメイドスザニに良さだと思っています。

ちなみに５０年以上前のスザニはウズベキスタン国外への持ち出しが禁止されています。
今回の商品も１９７０年から８０年代のスザニが中心で、現在再現できないものがある希少なものも。
数年後には持ち出し禁止対象になるので、ヨーロッパでは高価で貴重なものとして売買されています。

About "SUZANI”…
SUZANI embroidery is a tradition passed down through generations. "Suzani" and "Suzani embroidery" refer to a craft believed to have originated in Central Asia around the 17th century, where it has been passed down by hand among the nomadic women.

In the past, mothers and relatives would embroider while teaching their daughters, and the daughters would then complete the rest of the work. Even small pieces could take months to complete, while larger ones could take years to finish.

There are no strict rules on how Suzani should be used; it can be hung on walls, used as carpets, or as decorative bedspreads.
This particular Suzani is a vintage piece created by Tajik artisans.

Many of the Suzani sold in tourist areas are machine-embroidered, with high levels of design precision. However, the true charm of Suzani lies not only in its beauty but in its rich cultural history, tradition, and the warmth found in its handmade imperfections. This is the real essence of Suzani.

Vintage Suzani pieces from the 1970s and 80s are the focus, with some being rare items that can no longer be reproduced today.
By the way, Suzani pieces over 50 years old are prohibited from being taken out of Uzbekistan. Therefore, the items we offer now will likely be restricted from export in a few years, making them highly valuable and traded as rare and expensive goods in Europe.
